Plastic compositions containing soluble silicates. -Acid proof cements are made by mixing waterglass solution with a powder containing a compound of silicon (other than silica and silicates) which, when boiled for two hours with 25 times its weight of 15 per cent caustic soda solution, is dissolved to the extent of at least 40 per cent. Fluosilicates are particularly suitable, those of sodium, potassium, calcium, and aluminium being mentioned.
