Reciprocating and oscillating machines; magnets.-The magnet 5 on the pendulum 6 is stamped out of thin metal and may have the shape shown in Fig. 1, with two arms 65, 66; or it may have four arms 67 - - 70 as shown in Fig. 15. Also, by increasing the number of arms, a magnet is formed having a continuous outer surface surrounding the fixed coil 23. The ends of the arms may also be extended transversely. Alternatively, a flat magnet may be disposed horizontally.
