Abstract

Electromagnets.-In an electromagnet of the type comprising two concentric pole-pieces having an exciting winding between the pole-pieces and another surrounding the outer pole-piece, the polepieces are mounted on a ring - shaped permanent magnet. Fig. 1 shows such an arrangement applied to a telephone receiver. The inner pole-piece a and the outer b are mounted on connecting-pieces a<1>, b<1> secured to the ring-shaped permanent magnet e. The pole-pieces may be further connected magnetically at their base, for example by stamping the outer pole-piece out of sheet iron and bending the end over to form a disc engaging with the base of the inner pole-piece. The outer pole-piece mav approach the inner pole-piece at its upper end, either by being given a conical form, or being formed with a shoulder as shown in Fig. 6, the outer winding being arranged on the shoulder as shown.
