Abstract

321,439. Powell, G. D. July 10, 1928. Electromagnets.-The armature 17 of a loudspeaker or other electromagnetic device is mounted by soldering to a flexible strip 14 of an alloy such as those known by the registered trade marks " Eureka " or " Manganin " chosen to retain its hardness, brightness, high-resistance, and nonmagnetic properties at elevated temperatures. The strip 14, which may be grooved to reduce eddy currents, is bolted to pillars 13, attached to a permanent horse-shoe magnet 10 carrying laminated pole-pieces 11, which accommodate coils 25 surrounding the armature. Specification 305,614, [Class 40 (iv), Telephones &c.], is referred to.
