Thermal switches. - A normally short-circuited signal lamp or tell-tale indicator in series with main lamps is cut into the circuit by a hot wire controlled switch when one of the main lamps fails, or alternatively, the hot wire switch shortcircuits the signal lamp When a main lamp fails. A hot wire b is passed from a terminal C to a terminal C' around an insulated pulley d carried on a pivoted arm e acted upon by a spring f. When the lamps a are on, the current passes through the lamps, terminal l, bracket m, contacts g', g, terminal c, hot wire b and terminal C' back to battery. If one or more lamps fail, the hot wire cools and the contact g, g<1> is broken causing the signal lamp h to light up. In the event of the lamp h or wire b burning out, the main lamps a can be kept alight by pressing a contact i on the arm e against a strip k.
