Abstract

247,779. Shaw, A., and Fairer, F. April 7, 1925. Lamp - failure alarm devices.-Relates to devices for automatically indicating the extinction of an oil or other fuel consuming lamp of the kind comprising an expansible member which, under the influence of the heat from the lamp, is adapted to open or close an electric circuit and thereby give an audible or visible signal when the lamp fails. According to the invention, the expansible member consists solely of a small thin metal tube a<3>, which is supported by pillars a<1>, a<2> on a base A attachable to an oil receptacle B so as to extend through the flame of the lamp, one end of the tube being bent round so as to engage an insulated contact a' when the lamp is extinguished. The base A and contact a' are connected to contacts on the lamp casing, which in turn are connected to terminals on a second casing mounted on the dashboard of a vehicle or similar support and containing a battery, control switch and indicator.
