Abstract

266,693. Corlett, H. O. May 6, 1926, [Convention date]. Driving; combined with other apparatus. -The drum 6 of an electrically driven separator is mounted on the tapered end of a sleeve 7 mounted on the spindle 13 of the electric motor 14 and adjustably secured by a set-screw. A pin, secured in the bowl recess, rests in a slot in the end of the sleeve 7 to couple the bowl and sleeve together. The motor casing 16 has inlet and outlet holes 19, 20 for ventilation purposes, and a fan 26 on the shaft maintains an air flow. A flange 21 prevents any fluid from entering the ventilation holes 20. The fixed separator parts are supported by the motor casing, which stands on four legs and carries an enclosed rheostat 28 for the control of the motor. The motor shaft carries an air pump 32, which is used to provide the vacuum for the milking machines. The lower end of the shaft rests in a footstep bearing, and a collar 25 at the bearing 24 assists in supporting the downward thrust of the moving parts.
