Abstract

266,384. Clarisse, G. Feb. 19, 1926, [Convention date]. Carding - engines; burring-apparatus. - A brush roller 2 is applied to the lickerin 1 or other preliminary roller of a carding-engine to act on the material being carried round by it to exert a brushing action on the material and to remove burrs or other impurities, which are expelled in front of the brush roller. An auxiliary stripping-roller may be used with the brush and a burring-roller 4, and a worker 6 and clearer 5 may also be employed. The brush roller rotates in the same direction as the licker-in &c. and is covered with bristles or metallic teeth mounted on a backing or set in the roller. The clothing is wound on in close spirals or arranged in straight or helical bands along the brush, with clear spaces between. The clothing may be arranged in patches presenting alternately clothed and smooth spaces. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the application of the brush roller to the various card rollers or cylinders, preliminary cards, and breast rollers. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
