Abstract

266,367. Oberrheinische Handelsges. Feb. 17, 1926, [Convention date]. Yarns, treating with solid substances; fibres, roughening mechanically; yarns, treating with liquids.-Yarns and fabrics of artificial silk, staple fibres, and similar fibrous materials lose their gloss and are roughened by treating with powderous substances which have either acute edges such as kieselguhr, or substances which have softer edges such as silica gel or amorphous substances of organic or inorganic nature., lime, kaolin, alumina, chalk, and the like. Soap solutions, oils, greasing means, moistening means, and the like may be used, followed by evaporation or treatment with gases. Specifications 8278/13, 27551/13, 193,373, 239,605, 254,357, 260,935, 264,233, and 264,428 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the powders may be deposited 'by chemical or physical means and the treatment may be carried out as in the mordanting or dyeing in dyeing factories, or as in waterproofing fabrics. Organic, colloids may be used such as starch solution or gelatine followed by hardening or by transforming the sols into gels. As examples, aluminium sulphate or alum precipitated with animal or other glue, or aluminium acetate precipitated with soap solution are mentioned. The material may be treated with caustic alkali, then with a salt of an alkaline earth metal and finally with sulphuric acid which precipitates an insoluble salt. The powders may be applied by dusting, blowing, stamping, stirring, grinding, throwing or pressing. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
