266,241. Knup, A. Sept. 28, 1926. Hand, foot, and personal actuation.-A locking device for gear, brake, throttle, &c. pedal levers on motor vehicles, applicable to Ford cars 'to lock the low gear in action, comprises a toe-plate 4 pivoted by a bolt-and-nut 5 to the pedal plate 3 and provided with a laterally extending bar 11 adapted to co-operate with a fixed toothed segment 13. When the pedal 1 is pressed forward, it may be locked by tilting the toe plate to bring the bar 11 into engagement with the undercut teeth of the segment 13. The toe-plate is formed with converging walls 6, 7, the wall 6 carrying an adjustable plate 10 which, as well as the opposite wall 7, is lined with leather or the like. Stops 12 on the pedal plate limit the tilting movement.
