Abstract

170,742. Maggs, P. Sept. 13, 1920. Treadle mechanism. - To increase the area for engagement by the foot and to prevent the foot from slipping off, the pedals b of motor vehicles are provided with detachable footplates a which are turned under as shown at c, at one end to engage with one side of the pedal and provided near the other end with a clamping- plate f to engage with the other side of the pedal, the plate f being secured by a nut upon a bolt or stem e passing, through, or carried by, the footplate. A flange d forms a rest for the side of the driver's boot.
