Mines, marine.-Relates to submarine mines provided with a line 10 and a lever 9 for releasing the mooring cable from the anchor and lifting the anchor up, when it is desired to recover the mine and its anchor after the mine has been laid for some time. According to the invention, accidental premature operation of the aforesaid lever by a pull on the line 10 is prevented by means of a shackle 14 interposed between the mine 1 and the lever 9, this shackle device being similar to one previously proposed for connecting the mine directly to the anchor. As shown, the mine 1 rests on seats 2 on pillars 3 on springs 19 on the anchor 4, and is secured in position by the shackle 14, which is released in known manner by a soluble plug, or otherwise, some time after the mine is launched. The mooring cable 5 is attached at one end to the mine 1 and at the other end to a ring 6 engaged by a shackle 7 held closed by the lever 9, to which is attached the line 10 for the recovery of the mine and its anchor. The lever 9 is connected to the shackle 14 by a rod 13 and a tightening nut 18, and cannot move until the mine has been released from the shackle.
