Abstract
331,591. Vickers-Armstrongs Ltd., and Dickson, B. W. A. April 6, 1929. Divided on 331,587, [Class 9 (ii), Torpedoes &c.]. Hooks, spring, safety, slip, and closed.-Relates to bomb-dropping hook-devices supported by a winding gear from an aircraft, and consists mainly in making the hook B pivoted at B<1> with a longitudinal extension B<2> resting over a compression member B3 pivoted at B<4> and carrying a catch E pivoted at E<1> and hooking over the extension B2. The catch is held in place by a spring E<3> extending between it and a tail projection on the hook B. To release a bomb, a wire E<2> is pulled. This rocks the catch E about its pivot E<1>, thereby unhooking it from the extension B<2>. Continuation of the pull now rocks the compression member B<3> away from the extension B<2>, thus releasing the hook B and allowing the bomb to fall. These various members are mounted on a frame C which is suspended from the aircraft by the wire cable D of a winding gear which is described in Specification 331,587, [Class 9 (ii), Torpedoes &c.].
