Hooks, slip, automatic-release. - Relates to devices comprising two pivoted hooks working in opposite directions and held in closed position by a rocking member situated between parts of the hooks. According to the invention, the rocking member 7 has a part 6 situated be-. tween upwards extensions of the hooks 1 and rocks about a hinge 8 in a plane transverse to the plane of movement of the hooks, and the arrangement is such that the part 6 retains the hooks closed for a considerable initial movement of the member 7, this preventing accidental release and enabling the initial movement of the member 7 to operate another member 15 to actuate further mechanism, for example the starting lever of a torpedo, before the release of such torpedo. This hook device is carried by a frame 2 hung from a Hooke's joint 3, which is connected by a band or rope 4 to a winch on the aircraft.
