Abstract

184,032. Smith, E. E. July 11, 1921. Straps and bands.-A device for the suspension of men, which is particularly adapted to withstand sudden shocks such as experienced by parachutists consists of a one-piece strap a of webbing made continuous so that no stress is directly transmitted by a stitched or riveted joint. The webbing is looped at A at the breast of the wearer and is then passed under one arm and over the other shoulder to the breast again on the other side B where it is obliquely folded under that loop. It is then passed down that side and round the legs as shown up the other side through the loop A where it is obliquely folded and over the shoulder to the loop B. The rope rings are the points of suspension.
