Abstract

142,624. Blackburn, H. April 2, 1919. Straps and bands.-In a body-harness for use with parachutes, marine life-saving apparatus, &c., a strap A, Fig. 3, passing round the thighs and waist, is prevented from closing beyond a fixed point when the emergency pull takes place. The strap, reinforced with wires and in parts of its length circular in section, has its two ends A<6> adjustably fastened to the back of the waist portion. The end of the strap A<6> carries a stud A<7> capable of engaging holes in a plate A<9>, Fig. 6, on the waist-belt and provided with a toe-piece A<10> which retains the stud when the pull takes place. An adjustable strap D connects the two parts of each thigh loop and prevents eyes B<3> on the suspending strap B from drawing the loops too close together. The suspending-strap passes through an eye C on a shoulder strap attached at one end to the waistbelt, the eye C being kept in place by an adjusted strap C<3>. In a modification of the apparatus for female attire, the two thigh loops are combined into one loop.
