Abstract

293,606. Black, G. J. F. Oct. 3, 1927. Actuated by springs.-In brake mechanism for winding engines which is actuated by toggle-link mechanism d and powerful springs b having a relatively small working travel, the toggle mechanism is held so that the brake is off bv a catch e which is released by the overwind prevention gear, or other safety device, through the link f, bell-crank lever g, and link h. In a modification the brake may be maintained in the off position by the engagement of a projection on one rod c with a recess in the other. The parts are prevented from accidental disengagement bv bracelet springs, clips, &c., and are disengaged when the brake is to be applied by a lever.
