Abstract

383,031. Decoys. MIEVILLE, M. F., Dipley Mill, Hartley, Wintney, Hampshire. Oct. 22, 1931, No. 29350. [Class 5 (i).] A decoy comprises the model of a bird having a body portion 1 to the back of which are pivoted separate wings 5 formed from the feathers of an actual bird attached to curved metal strips 6. The wings are extended and retracted by an electric, compressed air or clockwork motor 7 which drives through reduction gearing a wheel 10 having a crank pin 12 to which are pivoted the ends of two arms 13, 13<1> connected at their other ends to bent levers 15, 151 attached by links 18, 181 to stirrups on the strips 6. The motor and gearing may be enclosed in the body of the decoy instead of in a casing below it and the body of an actual bird may be used, the wings being detached and mounted on pivots so that they may be actuated as above described. When a compressed air motor is used the device may be carried by a telescopic pipe supplying the air.
