Abstract

505,257. Toy aeroplanes. RIGBY, W. Nov. 4, 1937, No. 30264. [Class 4] [Also in Group XV] A winding instrtunent for the driving rubber of a toy aeroplane, comprises a frame comprising back and front limbs 5 and 6 spaced apart to allow the propeller to rotate between them, a trough-shaped cradle 1, closed at one end, to support the nose with the propeller lying between the limbs, and a winding-gear carried by the front limb and including a winding- handle 9 outside the limbs and a projection 10 inside the limb to engage and rotate the pro. peller when the handle is rotated. As shown, the frame is U-shaped and is formed of wire, the cradle 1 being crimped to the back limb 5. The front limb 6 carries a sheet-metal gear-case in which are mounted a gear-wheel 8, rotatable by the handle 9, and a smaller gear-wheel 7, which meshes with the gear 8 and the axle of which is cranked to form the projection 10. The frame may be braced by a sheet-metal frame 11 and the projection 10 may be sheathed in rubber. According to the Provisional Specification the propeller is engaged by pins carried by the gear 7 near its periphery.
