264,508. Chemische Fabric auf Actien vorm. E. Schering. Jan. 15, 1926, [Convention date]. Chloriodo compounds of alpha-aminopyridine and its derivatives are obtained by treating a-aminopyridine and its derivatives with an acid solution of iodine monochloride, The products, which are useful for the manufacture of pharmaceutical preparations, are transformed in alkaline solution into the corresponding #-iodo compounds. Examples are given of the preparation of the chloriodo compounds of a-aminopyridine, a-acetylaminopyridine, a-ethylaminopyridine, a-isopropylaminopyridine, a-isoamylaminopyridine, a-diethylaminopyridine, and a-amino-a<1>-methyl-#- ethylpyridine. alpha-Isopropyl- and a-isoamylaminopyridines are prepared by interaction of the sodium compound of alpha-aminopyridine with isopropyl iodide and isoamyl bromide respectively.
