Abstract
263,943. Franklin, C. S. Oct. 7, 1925. Aerials; directive signalling. - A number of aerials, of the type described in Specification 242,342 in which alternate half-wave lengths are made non-radiating, are spaced apart approximately at a distance of half a wavelength and are coupled together in such a way that currents flowing in any one of the aerials reduce currents of the same frequency and phase on adjacent aerials. As shown in Fig. 1 five aerials 1 - - 5 having radiating portions R and non-radiating portions S are coupled through the portions S and coupling circuits C, preferably tuned to the operating wave-length. The central aerial 3 is alone directly energized through a transformer T. In an alternative arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the end radiating portions R are bent over and directly connected in pairs, so that the whole aerial system is, in effect, formed of one continuous wire.
