Casings and walls; expansion joints. - In a double wall for furnaces the corners of the inner wall are formed of triangular-like bricks or tiles 4, 4<a>, the sloping sides of which are shaped with a notch 9 and step 6 at one end. The tiles are laid to overlap the median line of the angle alternately at one side and the other in adjacent courses, and are laid with the sides 11 slightly apart in each course. Bricks B tapering outwardly may be laid at intervals in the inner wall to take up expansion.
