Abstract

262,940. Hammond, G. A., and Wood, A. Dec. 15, 1925. Combined open fireplaces and cooking- s t o v e s ; dampers; boilers, arrangement of. The boiler 7 of a combination range is mounted on a firebrick support 6 having a cut-away portion 6<a> leading to a tubular passage 7<a> in the boiler which is connected to a tubular member 8 leading to the hot-chamber 10, and provided with a damper 11<a>. The damper shown comprises a pivoted member with a disc-like portion 11<a> adapted to cover the bore of the tubular member and having a cut-away section 11<b> to prevent complete closure of the flue. It is preferably mounted on a plate 13 having projecting ribs forming bearing-surfaces and provided with stops 11<d> which engage a projection 14<c> on the damper. The usual damper-controlled aperture, not shown, is provided behind the canopy in the plate 9.
