266,842. Hammond, G. A., and Wood, A. Dec. 15, 1925. Dampers. - A sliding damper 4 is operated through a link 8 pivoted to it and to a lever 9 which projects through a slot 10<a> in the stove front. The edges of this slot form a fulcrum for the lever in operating the damper, and, when the damper is set, the lever may be pushed inwards as shown in broken lines. A projection or knife-edge 9<b> may be formed on the lever to serve, in conjunction with the slot, as a fulcrum, and to limit the outward movement of the lever. The damper slides between guides 5<a> formed on a plate 5 covering an opening in the flue wall, and having openings 5<b> with which openings 4a in the damper co-operate in such a way that they commence to open, and reach their maximum openings, in succession. A cut-away section 4<b> in the end of the plate prevents complete closure of the flue. The plate 5 may be dispensed with, the openings 5b being formed in the flue wall and the guides 5<a> arranged on it.
