260,543. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges., (Assignees of Farbwerke vorm. Meister, Lucius, & Br³ning). Oct. 28, 1925, [Convention date]. Chrome, iron, and like mineral tanning.- Tanning preparations are obtained by mixing an aluminium salt with a salt (other than a nitrite) of an alkaline earth metal or other divalent metal e.g. magnesium, zinc. 68 parts of crystallized aluminium sulphate are mixed with 49 parts of crystallized magnesium sulphate, and the mixture dissolved in 100 parts of water to form a solution which is evaporated to a dry paste. For tanning 12 parts of this product are dissolved in 120 parts of water and applied in a tumbler to 100 parts of pickled pelt. In another example aluminium chloride is mixed with calcium chloride.
