Dynamos, arrangement of.-An electric generator 2 is mounted on the timing gear cover 4 or other part of the engine, the area of contact and consequent transmission of heat being reduced by the provision of seating blocks 10 around the axis of the generator, a spigot 3 on the generator resting against the reduced inner portions 12 of such blocks. The spigot is eccentric to the generator axis for permitting an exact meshing of the pinions 8, 9 to be obtained. Where the generator is driven from the pinion 16 on the spindle of the magneto 17, the double gear wheel 16, 9 may be provided with a detachable extension 19 supported in an antifriction bearing 18 of the cover 4. Passage of lubricating oil to the generator is prevented by the fitting of a felt &c. washer 15 into a tapered opening in the cover 4.
