Abstract

259,495. Bayley, W. S., and Cattell, W. May 10, 1926. Rolling.-A mill for rolling strip or hoop metal is provided with adjustable guides so that different widths of metal may be rolled. In a three-high mill, the rolls 1 are adjusted by screws 6, the handles 7 being held in position by rods 8 engaging in holes 9 in arcuate brackets 10 on the frames 5. Each pass is provided with guides 11 adjustably secured to a slotted guide bar 14 by bolts 13. The ends of the guides adjacent the roll pass are fitted with rollers 11<a> preferably of concave form. The members of each guide pair are mutually adjusted by right and left hand screws 16 operated by hand-wheels, 19 which may be locked by plates 22, the plates being moved aside when the guides are to be adjusted. Guide bars 25 are provided at the delivery side of the rolls.
