Abstract

242,734. Geeson, T. Sapt. 4, 1924. Stretching tubular goods upon internal frames; steaming; calendering.-A tubular fabric is fed by rollers C, C' and side pulleys E, E<1> over a tubular frame A at the same rate or faster than it is taken up by the rollers D, D<1>, " bowing " of the fabric being prevented by eliminating resistance at the sides of the frame by the use of antifriction wheels a<3> and by retarding the fabric at the centre by means of curved inclined bars D, B<1> and straight bars M. The fabric passes over steaming troughs H and a drier K, preferably heated by steam pipes k, before it reaches the rollers D, D<1>, and may then pass between hot or cold calendering rolls G, G<1>. The delivery end of the frame A is square, and is fitted with a thin plate a' projecting between the rollers D, D'. The bars M are carried in holes m<1> in swivelling brackets m. The two steaming troughs H are fitted with sliding shutters h, and the side pulleys E, E<1> are adjustable to suit frames A of different sizes.
