Rolling flanged bars.-Flanged bars, particularly those for window frames, are rolled by four coacting rolls, one or both of the side rolls being exchangeable for rolls having a cutting rib of buttress form or having a patterned surface or having both of these features. A number of varying sections may thus be rolled in the same stand. In one form the side roll 4 has a cutting- rib 5, and the part of the flange beyond the groove formed on the section is intended to be broken off. The roll may be axially adjustable to vary the position of the groove. Either or both flanges may be grooved as in Fig. 5. Die-rolling.-In addition to the rib the roll may have a fluted or otherwise patterned surface. Both side rolls may be of the character described.
