Pneumatic collectors; surface treatment with liquid materials. - Relates to combined gully-emptying and street-washing apparatus of the kind in which a tank pivotally mounted on a locomotive road vehicle is adapted either to receive and discharge sludge or to serve as a reservoir from which water is drawn by a pump and distributed by nozzles on to the road. In order to provide between the tank 2 and the outlet water conduit 4 for street-washing purposes a coupling which permits tipping of the tank, the latter is formed with a cylindrical mouth located co-axially with the tipping axis, and the conduit 4 engages in or over the mouth in a liquid-tight joint allowing relative angular movement between the parts. In the arrangement shown, the tank is provided with trunnions 5 mounted in bearings 3 which form the tipping axis, one of the trunnions constituting the cylindrical mouth and engaging around a gunmetal or similar tube 9 which connects the tank with an elbow-piece 8 fitted on the conduit 4. A stuffing- box 10 maintains a watertight joint between the tube 9 and trunnion 5, and a screw cap 13 is adapted to close the inner end of the tube 9 when the apparatus is to be used for gullyemptying.
