Rollers, road.-Road rollers are provided with a water tank mounted within the rear roller at one side in such a way that it does not revolve with the roller. One end of the roller C is open and the other is provided with a sleeve D connected to it by webs F having narrow extensions reaching to the open end. The tank H is of segmental or other shape, the top being flat and the greater part of the water space being below the axle A. It is provided with a central sleeve I fitting on the axle A, and with valved inlet and outlet openings. In another arrangement, the sleeve D extends to the open end of the roller and the sleeve I surrounds it. In another, in which there are no protuberances at one side of the roller, the axle A is reduced at the tank end and is secured on the frame at one end only, the tank being held in place by a nut on the free end of the axle. The axle may be hollow with a pipe passing through it to connect the tank with the feed pump of the boiler.
