Spindle apparatus.-Electrically-driven spindles for the boxes or cups of spinning-machines tor artificial silk are provided with resilient means for absorbing axial thrust. The spindle, which consists of two parts c, d, connected by a plate l of leather or rubber or by a spring disposed in a bore in the part c and bearing against a reduced end of the part d projecting in the bore, or is undivided and supported by a spring n, Fig. 3, is mounted in a fixed casing a which carries the stator of the motor and is closed by a cap b. A cap r on the spindle supports the spinning box and serves to protect the motor from acid vapours.
