Abstract

258,474. Muller, J. Feb. 4, 1926. Couplings, disconnectible, with valves.-A coupling for pipes &c. comprises inner and outer members 6, 20, the inner member being in communication with the fluid conduit 1 and provided with exterior locking lugs or claws 15 which are adapted to be actuated by the outer member 20, upon relative longitudinal movement of the two members 6, 20, to lock the coupling to a pipe member 26. The coupling is also provided with a spring-pressed valve 9 adapted to be opened automatically upon coupling. The lugs 15 are normally held in their locked position by a spring 21 interposed between the two members 6, 20, while the relative movement betwen said members is obtained by a lever 19 actuating a rod 18 secured to the inner member. The pipe member or nipple 26 may also be provided with a spring- pressed valve adapted to be opened by fluidpressure after attachment or by a projection on the valve 9 during attachment.
