Abstract
258,382. Rose, W., and Rose Bros. (Gainsborough), Ltd. July 11, 1925. Feeding articles by transfer devices not associated with hoppers, bins, and shoots. - Relates to apparatus for conveying articles or groups of articles from a channel or runway to a receiving position, and is applicable to wrapping-machines in which articles or groups of cigarettes are moved along a runway by pushers. The articles 11 are fed from the right along a channel 6 by pushers 9 mounted on chains 5, and arrive upon a platform 13 momentarily at rest in the position shown at the end of the channel. The platform is mounted on arms 18, 23, which are actuated to move it away from the channel, at an accelerating rate which is eventually greater than that of the pusher 9, and into a position in which a plunger (not shown) thrusts the article on to a receiving platform. A presser plate 37, mounted on a bridge 38 is actuated by a lever 42 to press on the top of the package during the transfer. The pushers 9 may be replaced by a reciprocating plunger.
