Abstract
258,068. Compton, J. H. Aug. 24, 1925. Organ stop and combination actions.-A double-acting stop-head or piston with contacts, and preferably with an electric lamp indicating " on " or " off," is formed as a unit for ready insertion in the organ frame, and operates electromagnetically a separately mounted reversing device for putting into or out of operation a ventil, coupler, &c. Momentary pressure on the stop-head 1 which has a translucent face 2, against the action of the reburning- spring 5, closes a contact 7, 6 energizing a solenoid 12. In the figure, the core 11 has turned the ratchet-wheel 13 to close a contact 17, 18 and has been returned to its normal position by the spring 14. Closure of the contact 17, 18 enables the battery 15 both to operate the ventil &c. at 16, and through the terminal 10 and sleeve 9, 4 to light the lamp 3. A second pressure on the stop-head 1, by again momentarily closing the contact 7, 6 reverses the device 13 to break contact at 17, 18, thus putting out of operation the ventil and switching off the lamp illuminating the stop-face. According to the Provisional Specification, the reversing device may be operated electropneumatically; an additional contact in parallel with the stop-piston may be closed by the foot for operating the reverser alone; a number of such additional contacts may be simultaneously or successively closed operating a number of reversers; and one or more additional contacts may be similarly arranged in parallel with the reverser or reversers for the operation, in the latter case by a sforzando pedal, of the lamp and mechanism or of a number of lamps and mechanisms.
