Abstract

Fluid supply for horns.-A signalling device, particularly for use on motor cars, comprises a number of sounding devices adapted to be supplied with air under pressure either simultaneously or in predetermined succession, at the will of the operator. In the construction shown, air is forced into a storage chamber 11 by a rotary compressor 22 operated by an electric motor A, and passes by passage ways 8 - - 10, Fig. 4, to sounding members 1, 2, 3 of the kind having a diaphragm 16 closing the throat of the horn. The supply of air to the passageways is controlled by lift valves 34, 35, 36 operated in succession by cams 43, 44, 45 on a cam-shaft 42 driven by the motor, or simultaneously by a pivoted yoke 46 operated by an electromagnet 55. The selection is effected by a two-way switch. In simultaneous operation, if the switch is closed only momentarily, the duration of the sound is controlled by cams 56, 57 on the cam-shaft, the cams operating switches in the circuit of the electromagnet.
