Hoods.-In collapsable hoods provided with a horizontal rail to engage with the windows or side screens the edge of the hood material is provided with a tightening device, such as a cord or cable, to cause the edge to bear firmly against the rail and if desired the tightening device may be connected to the means for securing the hood in the raised position so that disconnection releases the tightening device. As shown, the tightening device comprises a cord 7 and sheath 8, preferably a Bowden wire and sheath, secured to the edge 6 of the hood material 5 and adapted, when tightened, to draw it into a groove 4 in the horizontal rail 3. The cord &c. may be secured to the device 9, 10 for attaching the hood to the windscreen so that the hood edge is automatically released when the hood is released from the windscreen.
