Abstract

257,580. Krupp Akt.-Ges., F. Aug. 25, 1925, [Convention date]. Alternating - current motors.- In order to start and control a single-phase induction motor A, B, the secondary winding B is connected to the stator of an auxiliary induction motor E, F, having its rotor winding F connected as shown to a direct - current generator G and a battery of polarization cells J. When the auxiliary motor is running, the resultant rotating field set up in the stator E is impressed on the secondary of the main motor, enabling it to be started and accelerated by manipulating resistance C. The initial effect may be adjusted by varying the strength of the generator field H. In a modification the polarization battery is omitted, and the rotor F is provided with a short-circuit armature winding, and a direct-current exciting winding or other phase compensating device.
