Abstract

257,481. Trobeck, G. M. Jan. 9, 1926. Gravity-feed Lubricators. -A combined overheating alarm and lubricating-device for bearings &c. comprises a lubricant-container 5 secured, for example, to the cap 3 of a bearing brass, by a tubular bolt 6. The latter contains a fusible body 4 incapable of damaging a journal, and supporting a plunger 8 against the action of a spring 11 held in compression by a screw cap 9. The upper end of the plunger carries a plate 13 which normally covers a signal disc 14 on the cover 22 of the container 5. When the body 4 melts, the plunger 8 descends, uncovering the disc 14 and closing spring contacts 10 in the electric circuit which includes a bell or lamp. Lubricant can now pass by apertures 17 into the tube 6 and so to channels leading to the bearing brass. If the fusible body is of tallow this acts as an additional lubricant.
