Abstract

257,269. Urbain, E. Aug. 22, 1925, [Convention date]. Materials for making coke and other products. -Active carbon is produced by heating carbonaceous material with metal or metalloidic oxides or hydrates other than those of the alkalies and alkaline earths to temperatures of 800-1100‹ C. In place of the oxides or hydrates substances producing them under the conditions of the process may be used. Zinc chloride, phosphoric acid and arsenic oxychloride are mentioned. Specification 167,195 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the use of oxides and hydrates of the alkalies and alkaline earths, and is not limited to temperatures of 800-1100‹ C. Mono and dicalcium phosphates are also mentioned as suitable activating agents. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
