Abstract

254,930. Paddock, R. G., and Hobbs, H. W. Oct. 19, 1925. Light and other radiations. treating diseases with.-A device for transmitting radiation of short wave length comprises a quartz glass tube 2 either evacuated or filled with a short wave transmitting but heat insulating medium such as hydrogen. The tube is enclosed in an outer tube comprising two flanged parts 7, 8 screwed together. The part 8 has an enlargement 9 and a flange 11 engaging an aperture in a screen 4, preferably of asbestos. The tube 2 is secured against axial motion by a fixed cap 19 and a screw cap 18. A slot 16 is provided in the part 7 to accommodate the sealing projection 17 of the tube 2. The source of radiation is placed close to or in contact with one end window and the part to be treated opposite the other.
