Abstract
254,679. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges., (Assignees of Akt.-Ges. f³r Anilin-Fabrikation). June 30, 1925, [Convention date]. Carbon tubes for use in the chemical and electrical industries are produced by moving relatively to each other carbon electrodes through which an electric current of sufficient strength to melt the carbon is passed. The electrode undergoing fusion may be moved over a carbon plate forming the counter electrode in such a manner that layer upon layer of molten carbon is formed and the tube thus built up. Several electrodes may be used simultaneously and the operation may be conducted under pressure in a closed chamber and in the pressure of a stream of suitable gas.
