Abstract

Wireless tuning-apparatus, adjustment devices for; inductances. - A variable inductance comprises in combination, a solenoid wound on the " figure of eight " principle and provided with tappings connected to a switch forming part of the solenoid unit, and a second " figure of eight " coil adjustably mounted in relation to the first coil. In one construction, Fig. 1, a main coil 13 is wound on rods 12 between end plates 10, 11 and a smaller coil 14 is wound between plates 15, 16. The coil 14 is mounted on a spindle 19 carrying an operating-knob 20 the spindle 19 passing through a spindle 21 and knob 22. The spindle 21 carries a switch arm 24 engaging contacts 25 connected with tappings from the main coil, the tappings and switch arm being arranged to avoid " dead end " effects. In a modification, Fig. 4, the coil 14 is adjusted by friction gear 40, 41, a pivoted plate 44 and spring 46 being provided to exert pressure between the gear surfaces.
