Abstract

Detachable stoppers secured by clamping devices. - A bottle closure comprises a cap provided with dependent inturned spring holding fingers 10 adapted to ride over and engage beneath the bead on the bottle neck, and yielding reinforcing fingers 11 integral with the cap and overstanding the holding fingers 11. The reinforcing fingers may also be inturned to constitute additional holding fingers. As shown in Fig. 7, the bases of the fingers are strengthened by projections 15 which extend from the flat crown and projections 14 are formed on the fingers to broaden their lower ends and provide finger-holds. In a modification the projections 14 are replaced by circumferentially extending bulged portions formed on the reinforcing fingers only near the lower ends thereof. The fingers 11, Fig. 8 are formed with U-shaped lateral extensions 18 adapted to project into recesses 19 in the fingers 10. To present a smooth surface, raised portions 22, 23, level with the surface of the reinforcing fingers 11, are formed on the holding fingers 10. In a further modification one of the fingers 11 is extended downwardly to provide a lever for rocking the cap to disengage it.
