Abstract

253,688. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., and Whitaker, F. P. May 14, 1925. Brush-holders.-In a brushholder for a divided brush having a separate spring- pressed plunger for each section of the brush, the springs are disposed between a movable member carried by the brush-holder and collars on the corresponding plungers whereby the pressures on the sections may be simultaneously adjusted by moving the member and the pressure on each section may be independently adjusted by rotating its plunger by the two-part brush - holder shown. The brushes 1, 2 are carried in a holder 3 and are acted on by spring plungers 4, 5 housed in tubular members 6, 7. These members are carried in a bracket 8 which can be held at various position on a rackbar 12 on the holder 3 by means of a tongue 11 for controlling the two brush pressures jointly. A spring 13 in the bracket engages the bar 12 and retains the tongue in the rack. The springs 9 bear on screwed collars 10 placed on the upper ends of the plungers 4, 5. By rotating the plungers, the spring pressures of the brushes may be independently controlled. Specification 204,566 is referred to.
