Abstract

253,216. Hurst, R. R. A. March 17, 1925. Mules.-In a mule carriage built from sheet metal, channelled cross bars 2, 3 are secured in position by sheet metal fixing-members 6, 8 cut and bent to provide lugs which can be secured by bolts and rivets. The member 6 is provided with lugs 6<a>, 6<b> to be riveted to the members 2, 3, the plate 6 being bolted to the front plate 5. The member 8 has lugs 8<a>, 8<b> and a bent upper portion 8<c> to serve as a support for the bracket on which the cover is fixed. The bracket 9 to which the tie rod for the spindle rail is secured is fixed by a bolt 10 between the bars 2, 3 and has shoulders 10<a>, 10<b> resting on the upper surfaces of the bars. The bearings of the tin roller shaft are carried by brackets 11. A part 11<a> is fixed within the bar 2 by a bolt 12. A second part 11<d> carrying the slotted bracket 11 slides between vertical flanges 11<b>, 11<c> on the part 11<a> and is secured by its adjusted position by the bolt 12.
