Abstract

167,794. Platt Bros. & Co., Ltd., and Hall, H. P. Feb. 23, 1920. Mules and twiners.-A carriage for a mule is provided with means for mounting the carriage bearers s, Fig. 2, comprising channel-bars n applied flanges upwards to the bottom of the carriage and secured by ears o riveted or bolted to angle-bars q running along the front and rear of the carriage. Screw bolts p on which the bearer s is adjustably mounted are passed through key-hole slots in the bars n and secured in position or are spot welded on to the bars. The angle-bars q have holes equally spaced throughout their length to facilitate the fixing of the bars n in any convenient position. The tin-roller bearing brackets are mounted on a mule or a twiner carriage by means comprising a channel bar t, Fig. 3, applied flanges downwards on the top of the carriage and secured in position by ears u riveted or bolted to the front and rear plates of the carriage. The channel bar is provided with holes through which the bolts v to secure the bracket y are passed and with a block w carrying a screw x to adjust the bracket y. The devices are shown applied to a metal carriage of the kind described in Specification 167,797 and provided with a rest k for the spindle rail or box m as described in Specification 167,795. The sections of the carriage are coupled together by means comprising corresponding angle bars g at the edges of the bottorns of the sections and brackets h, i on the fronts and rears of the sections. The bars and brackets on adjacent sections are bolted together and a plate j extending across the carriage may be bolted between them.
