Abstract

917,059. Assembling force fits. SKAG STEUERUNGEN UND KUPPLUNGEN A.G. Nov. 14, 1961 [Nov. 14, 1960], No. 40752/61. Class 83 (4). [Also in Group XXIII] An hydraulic horizontal press having an adjustable thrust bearing, particularly for use in pressing-on and pulling off wheels comprises two beams 15, 16, situated in a horizontal plane and supported at one end by the press cylinder housing 29, the other end of the beams being carried by a T-shaped support 20 extending from the cylinder housing, the thrust bearing 21 being carried by the beams and adapted to be locked in position thereon. The T-shaped support has columns 17, 18 for supporting the ends of the beams 15, 16. The ram 14 of the hydraulic cylinder 12 extends above the supports 20 which acts as a rail on which run spindle supports 33 to 37. The thrust bearing comprises an upper and lower yoke 21, 22 and front and back thrust plates 23 and 24. The beams extend between the yokes and the upper yoke 21 carries rollers 26 which permit the thrust bearing to be easily moved along the beams. Pegs 28 are inserted in holes 27 in the beams to lock the thrust bearing in position. Figs. 1 and 2 show how two wheels 38, 39 and a spacer 40 are pressed on a shaft 41 by the ram 14. Fig. 3 shows how a wheel is pulled off a shaft 43 utilizing the press and a pair of tongs 45, the pull rods 46 of which traverse the thrust bearing and are attached to the ram 14.
