Abstract

Cylinder machines ; rotary machines ; platen machines.-The framework of printing-machines is formed by cutting rolled metal sections 1 - - 5 to the required lengths from standard stock, assembling these sections together, and uniting them by welding to form an integral structure. Two side frames, as shown in Fig. 1, are united by rolled' metal cross stays welded to the members 5. The members 4 may have horizontal limbs 7 of greater thickness than their vertical limbs. The top edges 8 of the side frame are flat to form the usual mounting base. Bed racks 9 are secured thereto by lugs 10 and screws 11, and local bridges 12 of inverted V -section are welded to the edges 8 to co-operate with V-guides 13. A plate 14 is welded to the side frame to form a race for bowls or runners 15 attached to a reciprocating carriage.
