Abstract

411,413. Hydraulic presses. EATON, M. M., 18, Brearley Street, Birmingham. March 16, 1934, No. 8285. [Class 69 (ii).] A hydraulic press comprises two spaced side plates, one or each of which has one or more gaps or apertures with platens or tool-holders fixed adjacent an end or ends of the gaps, a cylinder or cylinders between the side plates, and movable rams guided by the side plates. In a double-acting form, the side plates 2, Fig. 1, have gaps 9, 9<a> and support platens 11, 11<a>, and the rams 14, 14<a> are connected by members 15 and carry platens 17, 17<a> ; the cylinders 1, 1<a> have flat front and back faces fitting against the side plates, and projections 7 engaging notches 8. In a modified double-acting form, each side plate has a single gap supporting fixed platens at its top and bottom, and the side members of the ram frame are connected by a cross-bar with platens on its upper and lower faces. A single-acting press is shown in Fig. 8, the ram 14 having deep end parts 15 and guide plates 20. Doors may be fitted to the gaps in the side plates.
